Who we are

Faraaid is a free Islamic estate planning tool operated by Faraaid (doing business as Faraaid), based in Ontario, Canada. For privacy-related inquiries, contact us at privacy@faraaid.co.

What we collect

When you use the inheritance calculator, no personal data is stored on our servers without your consent. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. We do not log your family structure, estate value, or inheritance results.

We record anonymous usage events (page views, tool completions) with no personally identifiable information, using Supabase analytics.

Browser storage (sessionStorage)

Your calculator inputs — including heir structure (e.g. number of children, spouse, parents) and estate value — are temporarily stored in your browser's sessionStorage under the key faraaid_calc_session. This enables multi-step navigation between the calculator and the will generator. This data is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab and is never transmitted to our servers without your explicit action.

No persistent cookies are set.

Sensitive data

Estate planning information — including names, addresses, family structure, and the fact of using an Islamic estate planning tool — may constitute sensitive personal information, including religious affiliation, under PIPEDA and applicable Canadian privacy law. We treat this data accordingly.

All calculation data remains in your browser session only and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers. We do not record your school of jurisprudence (madhab) or any other religious preference.

Email collection

If you voluntarily provide your email address to receive resources, we collect that address with your explicit consent. We use it only to send what you requested and occasional updates from Faraaid. We do not sell, share, or trade email addresses with third parties.

Every marketing email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also request removal at any time by emailing privacy@faraaid.co.

Third parties

We use Netlify for hosting and Supabase for anonymous analytics and email list storage. Neither has access to your calculation data. We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics beyond what is described here.

Your rights

You can use this tool entirely anonymously. Under PIPEDA, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email privacy@faraaid.co and we will respond within 5 business days.

Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Any disputes relating to this policy shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
